Funnel and intake module

This module is the centre of the three main superstructure units.

The picture shows individual component parts cut, ready for assembly.

Here we see a start being made on the assembly of the Funnel superstructure.

The picture shows templates in use to obtain the correct angle of the upper deck.

Progress being made with the Funnel module; the aft superstructure and intake block complete.

Back after a two month break due to illness, production in the workshop begins with fittings for the "intake module".

The picture shows progress to date on ventilators, hose reels and water valves etc..

Making a start fitting out the starboard side of the "intake module".

In this next picture we see the completed starboard side of the "intake module".

The front of the "intake module", completed and ready for paint.

A start is made on the boat cranes. Here we see the two jibs being made out of 0.03 Plasti-card.

This picture shows the starboard crane at an advanced stage of construction.

The starboard crane, complete.

Note that the jib is free to turn on the base section, as when installed on the model, this requires adjustment to bring the jib over the sea boat.

The starboard side of the centre module, with the basic fittings installed.

This picture shows the rear of the centre module, complete and ready for paint.

The gas turbine intake.

Detailed information on this part of the module was difficult to obtain; the plans, as supplied,  gave only an outline description.

A detailed search of internet photos produced very few that provided any help; therefore, this part of the build is a synthesis of the available information.

This picture shows a start being made on the port side of the module, with some fittings in place.

Making a start on the funnel sub-module.

The picture shows the front and starboard sides with some of the basic fittings installed. Also, on the roof, one of the turbine exhausts is in place.

The funnel sub-module, complete and ready for fitting to the main assembly.

The centre intake and funnel sub-module, complete and ready for the attention of the paintshop.

Other fittings, including sea-boats, crane and 30mm cannons will be fitted after this module is painted.

The centre module after two coats of filler primer; this showed up several areas in need of further attention.

The next picture in the series shows one such area on the port side of the turbine intake module.

Here we see a view of the centre module "power module", which is now complete, except for the HF aerial array.
